What is a notary and why do I need one for certain transactions?

A notary is an individual commissioned by the Louisiana Secretary of State to authenticate the signing of various forms of documentation. State of Louisiana is notary required state for certain vehicle transactions.

Can the document be signed prior to bringing it to the notary?

The document should always be signed in front of the notary with the signer’s state issued ID present. In the event the signer already signed the document, they can bring the document to the notary with their state issued ID and confirm that it is their signature on the document in question.

Can a copy of a signed document be notarized?

No. The signature must be original. Photocopies are not allowed to be notarized.

Can FastPass notarize a copy of my birth certificate or passport?

Birth Certificates and Passports are considered breeder documents. Duplicates should always be requested through the appropriate agency that assigned the original document. Duplicates of birth certificates can be requested through the Louisiana Department of Health & Hospitals. A duplicate Passport can be requested through www.usa.gov .

I can’t be present when my car is sold. Can FastPass create a Power of Attorney?

Bring in your state issued ID and proof of insurance or registration. FastPass can create and notarize a Limited Power of Attorney for you to grant permission for another individual to sell your car in your place.

I am leaving the country and need to grant permission full authority to handle my affairs while I am away. Can FastPass notarize a General Power of Attorney that I prepared?

Bring in the Power of Attorney you created along with your state issued ID. All FastPass locations have a commissioned notary on site to help you.

I must renew my medical license which requires a notary. Can you help me?

Bring in your renewal and state issued ID. All FastPass locations have a commissioned notary on site that can notarize the signature of various forms of applications, renewals, and affidavits.

Is there a fee to get my document notarized?

A General Power of Attorney gives an agent broader authority to act on your behalf—handling tasks like selling property and paying bills. It’s helpful when you can’t handle these tasks yourself. To get started, simply bring your detailed General Power of Attorney, outlining your wishes, along with your ID, and FastPass will notarize it for you.

Do you need a license application or renewal notarized? Are you working on a contracted project that requires notarization? Or perhaps you need an Affidavit of Identity or Domicile notarized? FastPass is here to help! Simply bring your document and your ID to any FastPass location, where you'll be assisted by a Louisiana Certified Notary.

Please note, FastPass does not notarize wills, successions, or real estate purchase documents. Additionally, we can only "Certify True Copy" for documents that were originally notarized by a FastPass representative.

today I came in 30 minutes before close for a quick drivers license duplicate. There was no line to wait and their service was very efficient And simple. I would just like to say I have never had a more pleasurable experience with any other omv Or express tag and title place. The lady that assisted The lady that assisted me was named Megan, and she was very nice and helpful. She was very detailed and had patience when helping me with other questions that I had and did not rush me as it was getting closer to time to close up. Amazing service I will continue to come here
