No problem – visit one of our offices and our friendly staff will assist you with getting a duplicate. Just bring in your valid driver's license and one of the following: License Plate #, Vin #, or proof of insurance. Our team can have the transaction processed quickly.
First, you should always call the local police station to report the stolen plate. Second, FastPass can help you apply for a replacement plate. Just bring in your vehicle registration, if applicable, driver’s license and proof of insurance and receive a new plate on the spot.
Title transfer between individuals must be notarized, all sellers printed on the front of the title and the buyer(s) must be present to sign. If the seller(s) cannot be present, they must sign in front of two witnesses then both witnesses must be present with their state issued ID during the title transfer. You will need to bring in the title and if the buyer wants a license plate, proof of insurance for the purchased vehicle in the buyer’s name. FastPass will take care of the rest!
Title transfer fees are $76.50 plus sales tax based off the sales price, purchase date, and residential address of the buyer (mfn.dps.la.gov); license plate fee, if applicable; and mortgage fee, if applicable. (Vehicle Registration, Title & Plate Fees - Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles) Pass by our office for a estimated price! Title transfers can be paid by cash, debit, or credit cards.
Just bring in your vehicle registration or renewal notice alone with your proof of insurance and driver’s license and FastPass can renew your plate on the spot.
Title transfer by Act of Donation must be notarized as an authentic act, all sellers printed on the front of the title and the buyer must be present to sign. You will need to bring in the title and if the buyer wants a license plate, proof of insurance for the purchased vehicle in the buyer’s name. FastPass will assist with everything else!
Yes. To avoid any no insurance fines, the plate must always be cancelled prior to cancelling liability insurance. If you want to keep the same plate, no problem. You can sign a Statement of Non-Use within any of our office locations. The plate must be removed from the vehicle afterwards.
- If notary is not needed, you can appoint a person come complete your transaction by either completing Power of Attorney or completing and signing a Permission to Process form (DPSMV1806 PERMISSION TO PROCESS TRANSACTION).
To change your name on registration, you must process a Title Correction. The original title in your name is needed to complete this transaction. A current lienholder is holding your title? No problem. Your lienholder can forward your current title to any of our locations without releasing the lien to complete the title correction. You must also bring in proof of name change in the form of an updated state issued driver’s license or ID, marriage certificate, divorce decree, or court order.
Yes, we do have additional fees above the Office of Motor Vehicles fees to process transactions. As a Public Tag Agent, we are allowed to charge a convenience fee of $23.00 and if additional documents are needed, there will be a minimum additional charge. Are our services worth the additional fees? Our team is friendly, fast, and can assist with any questions or help with all documents. We will get you in and out instead of waiting in long lines.
