LA Driver's Licenses

LA Driver's Licenses

Do you need a Driver’s License? We are contracted with and authorized by the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) to Driver’s Licenses. We can issue first-time licenses (TIP upgrades), renew your Driver’s License, issue a duplicate Driver’s License, or change the address on your current Driver’s License.

Do I really need a Real ID starting on May 7th?

✅ With a Real ID, You CAN:

  • Board domestic flights within the U.S.
  • Access secure federal buildings (e.g., courthouses, military bases)
  • Use as legal identification for most state and federal purposes

❌ Without a Real ID, You CANNOT:

  • Board domestic flights starting May 7, 2025 (unless you have a passport or other TSA-approved ID)
  • Enter certain federal facilities
  • Use a standard driver’s license as federally accepted ID

A Real ID Does NOT:

  • Replace your passport for international travel
  • Impact your ability to vote
  • Expand your driving privileges
  • Act as a work visa or green card

Don't Have a Real ID? You can still fly or access federal buildings with:

  • A valid U.S. Passport
  • Military ID
  • DHS Trusted Traveler Card
  • Green Card

Real ID

Although you will not need to be Real ID-compliant for air travel until May 7, 2025, FastPass can issue your credentials now. After May 7, 2025, visitors seeking access to military bases, federal facilities, and any form of travel must have a driver’s license, state issued identification card or Passport that is Real ID compliant. Simply bring proof of Identity, date of birth, and lawful status. Click here for list of approved documents.

Driver's License Issuance

Every new driver must obtain a Temporary Instructional Permit (TIP), formerly known as a learner’s permit, from the Office of Motor Vehicles, take a driver’s education course and a road skills test at the Office of Motor Vehicles or with a third-party provider prior to obtaining a Driver’s License regardless of age.

Applicants who are 16 years old are eligible for an Intermediate License after having a learner's permit for 180 days. Once an applicant with a TIP reaches the age of 17, he or she is eligible for a full license. Applicants over 17 years of age are not required to apply for a permit or intermediate license.

Bring your TIP, a sealed envelope containing the results of the road skills test, social security number, and proof of insurance if you own a car. If you are under 18 years of age, bring your birth certificate and your parent or legal guardian with their ID.

When your Driver’s License expires visit FastPass Tag & Title. Simply bring your proof of auto insurance (if you own a car) and be ready to take another picture. Don’t worry, we always let you see and approve the picture before printing. You will be required to pass an eye exam, so be sure to bring your glasses or wear your contact lenses, if applicable. A No Insurance (NI) Flag is placed on your license when the State of Louisiana is notified that your vehicle insurance has lapsed or been canceled. Insurance providers send these notifications electronically to the state. This happens often in error if you’ve recently switched insurance companies. We’ll research the cause, explain the issue, and guide you in collecting any required documents to help clear the flag and avoid unnecessary penalties.

We are here to help! Give us a call or stop by at one of our locations. We will research the issue to determine why the flag was placed on your record. If it's an error, we’ll guide you through the steps to remove it without paying unnecessary fines to the Office of Motor Vehicles. We’ll also help you gather any required documents to resolve it.

Walk-ins welcome, but we take appointments too!

You’ll leave FastPass with that Fast Lane Feeling, accomplished but also calm and relaxed. We are committed to making the entire process easy and effective.
