Expedited Title

For an additional fee, you can request your duplicate title be expedited. At FastPass, we can print your title in-house and have it ready for pick-up the next business day after processing. Now that’s fast!

Duplicate Title

Did you misplace your title? Here's what to do! Check your registration or give us a call to find your title number. If your title number is a set of numbers, no need to worry—FastPass can issue a duplicate! Just bring your VIN number, Driver’s License, and lien release (if applicable), and we’ll have the duplicate mailed to you within 5-7 business days.

If your title number consists of four letters, your title isn’t lost! It’s still held in electronic form by your lienholder.

Buying or selling a vehicle? FastPass Tag & Title makes the transfer process simple and hassle-free! For basic transactions just bring the title, buyer’s proof of insurance, and valid state-issued IDs for all parties. If notary is needed, the buyer(s) and seller(s) must also be present.

Act of Donation

Gifting a vehicle? FastPass Tag & Title makes it easy! Vehicle donations, or Authentic Acts, are completed before a Notary with two witnesses, transferring ownership with no monetary exchange. Most donations are tax-free, with only Title, Registration, and Plate fees.

Just bring the donor, donee, vehicle title, donee’s proof of insurance, and valid IDs—we’ll handle the rest, including instantly issuing a license plate to the new owner.

Out of State Transfers

New to Louisiana and need to register your vehicle? FastPass Tag & Title makes it easy! If your car is paid off, bring your Title, valid photo ID, proof of insurance, and we’ll instantly issue your motor vehicle title.

Still making payments or leasing? We’ll work with your Lender or Lessor to gather the required documents and minimize delays.

Vehicle transfers from the following states must show proof of taxes paid in the form of a state issued registration, dealer’s invoice, bill of sale, or taxing authority receipt to receive a tax credit: Delaware, Dist. of Columbia, and Nebraska.

Branded Titles

A branded title is a permanent note on a vehicle's title, signaling damage that might impact its safety, reliability, or value. In Louisiana, the Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) requires a completed Vehicle Application Form to disclose this information on the title.

What if I lost my vehicle title or registration?

My license plate was stolen! What do I do?

I just purchased a vehicle from another person. How do I transfer the title into my name?

Title transfer between individuals must be notarized. All sellers listed on the front of the title and the buyer(s) must be present to sign. If the seller(s) can’t be there, he/she must sign in front of two witnesses, and both witnesses must be present at the transfer with valid state-issued IDs. Bring the signed title, and if the buyer needs a plate, also bring proof of insurance in the buyer’s name for the purchased vehicle. FastPass will take care of the rest!

How much does it cost for a title transfer?

Title transfer fees start at $76.50, plus sales tax based on the sales price, purchase date, and the buyer’s residential address. Additional fees, if applicable, may include a license plate fee and a mortgage fee.

What do I need to renew my plate?

I was given a vehicle. How do I transfer the title?

If you received a vehicle as a gift, the title transfer must be completed by an Act of Donation and notarized as an authentic act. You’ll need the original vehicle title. Everyone listed on the front of the title must be present to sign. The receiver of the vehicle must also be present to sign. If a license plate is needed, bring proof of insurance for the vehicle in the recipient’s name. FastPass will handle the rest.

My car must go into the shop, so I’d like to cancel my insurance. Do I need to turn in my plate?
