What if I lost my title or registration?

No problem – visit one of our offices and our friendly staff will assist you with getting a duplicate. Just bring in your valid driver's license and one of the following: License Plate #, Vin #, or proof of insurance. Our team can have the transaction processed quickly.

My plate was stolen! What do I do?

First, you should always call the local police station to report the stolen plate. Second, FastPass can help you apply for a replacement plate. Just bring in your vehicle registration, if applicable, driver’s license and proof of insurance and receive a new plate on the spot.

I just purchased a vehicle from another person. What do I need to get the title in my name?

Title transfer between individuals must be notarized, all sellers printed on the front of the title and the buyer(s) must be present to sign. If the seller(s) cannot be present, they must sign in front of two witnesses then both witnesses must be present with their state issued ID during the title transfer. You will need to bring in the title and if the buyer wants a license plate, proof of insurance for the purchased vehicle in the buyer’s name. FastPass will take care of the rest!

How much does it cost for a title transfer?

Title transfer fees are $76.50 plus sales tax based off the sales price, purchase date, and residential address of the buyer ( mfn.dps.la.gov ); license plate fee, if applicable; and mortgage fee, if applicable. ( Vehicle Registration, Title & Plate Fees - Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles ) Pass by our office for a estimated price! Title transfers can be paid by cash, debit, or credit cards.

What do I need to do to renew my plate?

Just bring in your vehicle registration or renewal notice alone with your proof of insurance and driver’s license and FastPass can renew your plate on the spot.

I was just given a vehicle. What do I need to bring in?

Title transfer by Act of Donation must be notarized as an authentic act, all sellers printed on the front of the title and the buyer must be present to sign. You will need to bring in the title and if the buyer wants a license plate, proof of insurance for the purchased vehicle in the buyer’s name. FastPass will assist with everything else!

Yes. To avoid any no insurance fines, the plate must always be cancelled prior to cancelling liability insurance. If you want to keep the same plate, no problem. You can sign a Statement of Non-Use within any of our office locations. The plate must be removed from the vehicle afterwards.

Do I have to go in to complete my transaction? Can I send someone to go in my place?

If notary is not needed, you can appoint a person come complete your transaction by either completing Power of Attorney or completing and signing a Permission to Process form ( DPSMV1806 PERMISSION TO PROCESS TRANSACTION ).

I just got married. How do I change my name on my registration?

To change your name on registration, you must process a Title Correction. The original title in your name is needed to complete this transaction. A current lienholder is holding your title? No problem. Your lienholder can forward your current title to any of our locations without releasing the lien to complete the title correction. You must also bring in proof of name change in the form of an updated state issued driver’s license or ID, marriage certificate, divorce decree, or court order.

Is there an extra fee for title, registration, or license plate services at FastPass?

Yes, we do have additional fees above the Office of Motor Vehicles fees to process transactions. As a Public Tag Agent, we are allowed to charge a convenience fee of $23.00 and if additional documents are needed, there will be a minimum additional charge. Are our services worth the additional fees? Our team is friendly, fast, and can assist with any questions or help with all documents. We will get you in and out instead of waiting in long lines.

Did you misplace your title? Here's what to do! Check your registration or give us a call to find your title number. If your title number is a set of numbers, no need to worry—FastPass can issue a duplicate! Just bring your VIN number, Driver’s License, and lien release (if applicable), and we’ll have the duplicate mailed to you within 5-7 business days.

If your title number consists of four letters, your title isn’t lost! It’s still held in electronic form by your lienholder.

Gifting a vehicle? FastPass Tag & Title makes it easy! Vehicle donations, or Authentic Acts, are completed before a Notary with two witnesses, transferring ownership with no monetary exchange. Most donations are tax-free, with only Title, Registration, and Plate fees.

Just bring the donor, donee, vehicle title, donee’s proof of insurance, and valid IDs—we’ll handle the rest, including instantly issuing a license plate to the new owner.

Out of State Transfers

New to Louisiana and need to register your vehicle? FastPass Tag & Title makes it easy! If your car is paid off, bring your Title, valid photo ID, proof of insurance, and we’ll instantly issue your motor vehicle title.

Still making payments or leasing? We’ll work with your Lender or Lessor to gather the required documents and minimize delays.

Vehicle transfers from the following states must show proof of taxes paid in the form of a state issued registration, dealer’s invoice, bill of sale, or taxing authority receipt to receive a tax credit: Delaware, Dist. of Columbia, and Nebraska.

Branded Titles

A branded title is a permanent note on a vehicle's title, signaling damage that might impact its safety, reliability, or value. In Louisiana, the Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) requires a completed Vehicle Application Form to disclose this information on the title.

Additional documentation might be needed, but our experienced team is here to answer any questions and provide you with assistance in getting the transactions completed.

It was FAST. Definitely worth the extra few bucks. Of note: that birth certificate they give you at the hospital isn’t official. I learned the hard way it has to come from the state. I’m pretty sure the camera they use for licenses adds ten years, or maybe it’s been ten years since I got a license, either way a good experience.

Walked in without an appointment mid afternoon on a Friday and I'm the only customer. Megan was professional and helpful. Needed to call USAA for help. today I came in 30 minutes before close for a quick drivers license duplicate. There was no line to wait and their service was very efficient And simple. I would just like to say I have never had a more pleasurable experience with any other omv Or express tag and title place.
